Anne Furbank History

Anne Furbank has skillfully selected the very best of women’s fashion, from around the world, for nearly 30 years. Her philosophy is simple, ‘I look for styling, fabrics, quality and design. I buy clothes women want to wear and can wear.’

Anne Furbank opened the doors to her first women’s fashion shop in the village of Buckden, Cambridgeshire in 1981. The Buckden shop has grown significantly since then and it has been awarded the coveted ‘National Independent Retailer of the Year’ by the clothing industry magazine Drapers, and was voted ‘Hunts Post Retailer of the Year’. Clients travel from all over the country to shop for clothes and enjoy great personal service.

Anne Furbank Newmarket was opened in August 2008, taking over from the established women’s fashion business, Jane’s of Newmarket. It sits in the impressive old Town Hall building in the heart of Newmarket with fashion showrooms over two floors. The philosophy is the same, but with a few different designers and brands in the mix.

We stock clothes for all occasions from luxurious designer fashion, mother of the bride outfits, evening wear, cruise wear to work suiting, casual knitwear and jeans. We also have stunning costume jewellery, hats, shoes, bags and gifts which are sourced from around the world. Our skilled personal shoppers will help you find distinctive clothes and accessories that can’t be found on the high street.

The George Hotel and Brasserie

In 2004, the Anne Furbank Group opened the doors to The George Hotel and Brasserie which sits next door to the shop in Buckden. Nine months were spent refurbishing this rundown Coaching Inn to turn it into the contemporary boutique hotel and restaurant it is now. It has won acclaim from leading travel writer Paddy Burt, as well as being given the highest rating 3 star award from the AA in the area. Its restaurant was recently awarded a rosette, the wine list is extensive and CAMRA called it ‘beautiful, bustling and buzzing’.
