When to shop for your mother of the bride outfit
Shopping for a wedding outfit can be almost as daunting as buying the actual wedding dress.
Aside from the bride, who will undoubtedly look stunning on the day, all eyes will be on the mother of the bride and also the mother of the groom. Occasionwear is one of the first collections to be delivered in store.
Designer and manufacturers know all about the planning of a wedding and know that taking the pressure off by getting everything organised with plenty of time to go will make buying an outfit all the more special.
Collections for spring and summer weddings start arriving in the shop in December, with a very large selection available to view by the end of January. The later the collections arrive the more summery they are likely to be.
In store already we have collections from Linea Raffaelli, John Charles, Condici, Coterie, Gloria Estelles and Paule Vasseur. As a rough guide, for weddings between March and September, start shopping from the end of January.
For weddings after September start looking at the end of July onwards. Make sure you allow yourself plenty of time to try a selection of outfits. Even though you may have some guidelines you wish to follow, such as colour of bridesmaids, try and come with an open mind. You may be surprised by what suits you and what makes you feel extra special.
All our girls in Buckden and Newmarket are there to help you create the perfect outfit. They will also be able to advise on the accessories which will complete an outfit, hat shape, jewellery, shoes and bag.
Our hats and fascinators are specially designed and chosen to complement our outfits but you may decide to choose a bespoke design from one of our milliners: Richard Designs or Amanda Caroline.
We have the widest selection of occasion wear in the region, sourced from all over the world.
