Anne Furbank – UK No 1 Marathon record!
After months of tough training, Annie succeeded in breaking the UK marathon record for women age 60-65 at the Berlin Marathon on Sunday 28th September 08. She recorded a chip time of 3hrs 15m 38s (and a gun time of 3h 18m 08s). Annie’s previous personal best was 3 hours and 19 minutes.
‘I can’t begin to tell you how excited I am – I am the current UK record holder for my age group,it is really hard to believe’, said Anne. ‘The conditions were perfect but no marathon is easy and I knew I had to run as hard as I could. I didn’t know when I crossed the line whether I had broken the record and the waiting for confirmation felt like an age. But I’ve done it’.
