Lesleys Diary - HC of Master Mariners lunch on HQS Wellington
On Monday 22 March I was invited to a Mistresses' Luncheon by the Mistress of The Honorable Company of Master Mariners. Certainly a Luncheon with a difference, being held on board HQS Wellington, the unique floating Livery Hall, on Victoria Embankment, on the Thames! We were invited for a guided tour of the Ship, followed by lunch in the Court Room.
Having been invited for 11.15am, I was mortified when my train from Bedford was 25 minutes late, meaning my arrival at Wellington was 11.50am! I tried to creep in, unnoticed, but as I was wearing a bright pink Basler coat, I failed miserably! Very much an announced entrance! However, I joined my table for the tour and the sun came out for our Champagne Reception on deck, which was lovely. We had a delicious fish lunch and as the tide was coming in, we even had the accompanied sway making us feel we were on a cruise!
I wanted to have a slightly nautical flavour to my outfit (especially as it is very 'in vogue' at present) so Julie cleverly managed to combine my navy Nanette Lepore dress with a sporty navy & pink checked jacket by Weekend Basler, teamed with my navy Capollini leather & patent shoes and bag.
