Lesleys Diary - Cordwainer College, LCF and Rupert Sanderson
Tuesday 4 May, I was invited to meet Rupert Sanderson for a Lunchtime meeting - In Conversation with Rupert Sanderson - when he returned to the Studio where he learnt his craft. He is very passionate about shoe design and talked very openly about being in advertising and not feeling fulfilled; he decided to contact the Cordwainer College and went for an interview, with no portfolio! The rest is history! He is extremely charming and had samples of beautiful shoes with him! Oh dear - another shop to visit! He now has shops in two London Stores, boutiques in Hong Kong & Paris, as well as collections available in over 100 department & specialist stores around the world. I wore a black tunic top by Joseph Ribkoff with jeans and my very first pair of red kitten heel Jimmy Choos.
Wednesday 5 May, back to the Cordwainer College, London College of Fashion, with Mark in tow this time, as he had missed the previous visit, to meet some of the students and a tour of the Studio and workrooms, machines, etc. A fascinating experience! Fortunately, Sue Saunders had managed to get together the two students I had been following during their course, Kate Cann & Camilla Pryce, two lovely girls with tremendous flair & inspiration in shoe design, who I have mentioned previously! I wore the Joseph Ribkoff tunic top, a Basler black top and jeans and red patent pumps this time.
