It’s Called Finding Your Style For A Reason.

One of the things I say to a lot of the mothers who come in is just to try. You might not like a dress on the hanger but when it is on a body it will look completely different. That’s why is it called finding your style, you have to go and find it. It is not going to jump out at you. You have to put the work in by trying different makes and styles on. That’s the only way you are going to find the right dress for you.

What Lies Beneath.

I cannot stress enough how important the right underwear is! If you have any questions regarding underwear please do not hesitate to ask.

If you are not wearing the right bra then a dress you are trying on might not fit you correctly. Don’t be ashamed of the Bridget Jones knickers that suck everything in (we all have a pair)

Here at Anne Furbank we try create a safe space so you can talk to us about all things outfit related, including the right underwear.

Who Should Buy Their Outfit First?

Traditionally the Mother of the Bride should get her outfit first. As I have said many times that weddings are not as traditional now as they used to be. However we are only at the start of wedding season and I am hearing more and more from the Mother of the Brides that the Mother of the Grooms are not waiting for the Mother of the Bride to pick their outfit first and that this has upset them.

So my advice to all you Mothers out there is to communicate. Whether it is with the other mother or the bride and groom. A wedding is such a joyful event and the build up is part of the fun so we want everyone to have the best experience.

When To Buy.

This is one question we get a lot and that is when should I buy my Mother of the Bride or Groom outfit? The answer is………..when you are ready to!

If you are saving for that perfect dress do not look until you have saved what you are wanting to spend.

If you want to lose weight then wait until you are at the size you want to be.

The amount of mothers who come not expecting to find their outfit but then do but sometimes have to walk away from it because the circumstances are not quite right.

So make sure the timing is right for you and we will do the rest.

No Hats.

Not wearing a hat to a wedding  is becoming more and more common. Hats are very traditional and if your wedding is not as traditional do you need to wear one? Normally the bride and groom will have an opinion on whether they want hats at their wedding. I got married 2 years ago nearly and my mum and mother in law didn’t wear a hat. So when it comes to deciding whether to wear a hat or not have a talk with the bride and groom and you wont go wrong!

Gold Or Silver.

Last week we spoke about accessories but do you know what colour accessories you should wear? Gold or silver? Well that depends on your skin tone and whether you have a warm skin tone or a cool skin tone.

It was Hippocrates who first noticed the difference between warm and cool skin tones. A warm skin tone has more of a yellow bile running through it compared to a cool tone which has more of a blue bile.

One quick as easy way to know if you have a warm or cool skin tone is to look at your veins on your wrist. If your veins are green then you are warm skin tone and have more yellow whereas if your veins are more blue then you are a cool skin tone.

If you are a warm skin tone you will suit gold and if you are a cool skin tone you will suit silver.
