Saint Valentine of Rome – who secretly performed marriage ceremony’s despite Emperor Claudius II’s ban. Valentine was imprisoned, and legend says he fell in love with his jailer’s daughter, writing her a note signed “Your Valentine” before his execution on February 14th.
