Yes, yes you can but you have to consider these things……..

1. Cultural Context – black is a colour associated with mourning and in some cultures can be a big no no for a wedding.
2. The Wedding Vibe – if it is a black tie wedding then a a black outfit is an elegant choice, however if it is in a garden and has a garden theme to it a black dress might not be the way to go.

As I was writing the title to this weeks blog I thought homework? Really? When you think of homework you think of school and times tables etc but when I say homework for us here at Anne Furbank it means we have done our research.

Over the next few months new season will slowly start arriving and we do our best to know our stock inside out. Where it is made, how to get in and out of it, is it true to size etc. When new stock arrives we try to do staff training sessions so every member of staff has the knowledge to be able to provide you the best service possible.

Does size matter? Is the number on the label that important when the dress is right? When it comes to shopping for your outfit you have to be aware that occasion wear sizes are very different to sizes on the high street. Some designers come up big, some come up small, so when you come to visit us please do not be put off by the size on the cube on the hanger.

We are starting to get a lot of phone calls  regarding weddings next year and when is the best time to come in. We will start receiving our new spring/summer 2026 dresses in December, by mid February the majority would be here. However saying that it doesn’t mean you cannot come into the shop and have a look around, see the brands we stock, try some different styles on its an exciting time and we cannot wait to see you in the shop.

Olvi is a brand that needs to been seen to be believed. These are beautiful lace dress and we have 4 new colours and styles ready for the new season.

Fee G was a new brand to us last season and you loved it as much as we did. Well it is back with many beautiful pieces from dresses, blouses and tops, why not pop in and see us so we can show you.

Black tie weddings are becoming more and more popular. However does a black tie wedding mean you have to wear black? A black tie wedding is a formal event (normally in the evening) and the dress code is floor length gowns for the women and tuxedos for the men. It does not mean you have to wear black. If the bride and groom want you to wear black they would stipulate that on the invitations.
